The 50th session of BAS/TC 6, Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres

The 50th Jubilee Session of the Technical Committee BAS/TC 6, Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres, was held on November 7, 2019. The session was chaired by a long-time President Rafo Jozić. Before the working part of the session, Borislav Kraljević, Deputy Director of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, addressed the attendees and thanked the members for their contribution in this very sensitive and responsible area. On behalf of the Institute for Standardization of BiH Mr. Kraljević handed Letters of Appreciation for the standardization work to all members of the Technical Committee.

 

Chairman Jozić reminded all attendants of the deceased members and the first Chairman of the Technical Committee, late Žarko Savić. The Committee observed a minute's silence in their memory. It was pointed out that almost 50 members from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as 5 secretaries and coordinators, worked in the Committee since its establishment.

 

Subsequently, the Technical Committee held a working session and adopted the Business Plan and the Work Plan of the Technical Committee for 2020 and established draft standards of BAS EN 1127-2 and BAS EN 50303, which was translated by the members of the Committee and the Working Group BAS/TC 6/WG1 from the Atex Association - Tuzla.

 

The Committee works within its capacity to translate the standards relevant to users. The largest number of standards has been translated by the Committee members. All relevant European standards in the field of explosion protection and fire hazards testing, which is being approved by twenty corresponding European and international standardization bodies, are being regularly adopted.

 

In October 2018, the Working Group BAS/TC 6/WG 1, Explosive Protection for Mining, was established as a result of the joint efforts of the Technical Committees BAS/TC 6 (Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres) and BAS/TC 27 (Mining) to contribute to the protection of people’s lives  and property in mining. The Working Group is preparing and translating BiH standards, reviewing international and European standards, revising existing valid standards in the field of explosion protection in mining and proposing standards to Technical Committees BAS/TC 6 and BAS/TC 27.

 

 

Technical Committee BAS/TC 6, Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres was established on April 29, 1997. The Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina holds the secretariat of the Committee whose President is Rafo Jozić, from the Association for Explosion Protection and Safety in the Working and Living Environment Atex – Tuzla. Technical secretary of the Committee is Jasmina Ljubunčić, advisor at the Institute. The Committee currently has 18 members.
