This overview enables searching the catalogue of BAS standards and other standardization documents according to the International Classification for Standards (ICS).

ICS is a universal hierarchical classification system developed by the International Organization for Standardization and used worldwide to facilitate the identification, classification, and mapping of equivalent standards across different countries.

How is the ICS classification structured?

The subject classification is a hierarchical system consisting of three levels:

• Level 1 (Field): A broad field of activity identified by a two-digit notation (e.g. 21 – MECHANICAL SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS FOR GENERAL USE).
• Level 2 (Group): A narrower group consisting of the field notation and a three-digit group number separated by a point (e.g. 21.060 – Fasteners).
• Level 3 (Sub-group): A specific subgroup consisting of the group notation and a two-digit subgroup number separated by a point (e.g. 21.060.20 – Nuts).

Note: Certain BAS standards may belong to more than one ICS category, depending on the areas they cover. For example, the standard BAS EN ISO/IEC 27001:2023, Information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection – Information security management systems – Requirements, has two ICS codes: 03.100.70 – Management systems, and 35.030 – IT Security.
